Project Help Basilan – Lakbay Aral sa Gapo

The Barangay Chairpersons of Lamitan City at Subic for the First Lakbay-Aral.

Project H.E.L.P Basilan is an advocacy project of BIDA (Basilan Island Development Association) that is the initiative of people who knew that the only way we can ease poverty and improve the lives of the grass roots people is only by forming alliance with fellow Pinoys who are members of the grassroots themselves and some middle class and talented Filipino Citizens here and abroad who also have the true heart of sincerely helping out our poor countrymen, each in their own little way, whether they are a Blogger, an OFW, an ordinary Teacher, a simple Housewive, or a Barangay Official.

One of their successful project is this ‘Lakbay Aral sa Gapo’, in which some Barangay Chairman and Officials of Lamitan City, Basilan had the opportunity to have a personal glimpse of the impressive city of Olongapo. They had the chance to further meet some of the key government officials of this City and thus shared with them some insights on how Olongapo had manage to be one of the competitive city in Luzon. It is one way that Basilenos themselves will have an idea of how they can start gearing up their joint effort in turning Basilan as the next Olongapo in the South. They also have the chance to meet one of the famous sons of Olongapo City, Senator Richard Gordon, and it was an opportunity for them to also air their concerns regarding some issues like a Red Cross Chapter in Basilan, also being the chair of the Red Cross and Director of the Red Crescent. However Senator Richard Gordon also donated a 4×4 Red Cross ambulance to be used by the 45 barangays of Lamitan City.It was a fruitful project for BIDA.

At the right of Sen. Gordon is Tatuh Macrohon. The picture is the ABC of Lamitan officers with Sen. Gordon.
